On 15th September 2020, I got a message from BeetleEarth to offer a five-horned beetle to me while I was working. A male five horned beetle from the wild in the Northern Thailand would become one of my favorite beetle in my memory. I ordered a five-horned beetle from Chanthaburi to Bangkok. Its length is 74 mm approximately. Its elytra or fore wings are colored shiny gold. And it looked very calm for my first sight. Scientific name is Eupatorus gracilicornis. Thai official name is “D̂wng kẁāng sāng h̄enụ̄x” We can find the five-horned beetles in any other country like Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and China. The five horned beetle is very popular among beetle enthusiasts.
ในวันที่ 15 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2563 ผมได้รับข้อความจาก BeetleEarth ที่เสนอด้วงกว่างห้าเขากับผม ในระหว่างเวลาทำงานที่บริษัท ด้วงกว่างห้าเขาเพศผู้จากป่าในทางภาคเหนือของประเทศไทยจะกลายเป็นด้วงตัวโปรดในความทรงจำของผมในชีวิต ผมสั่งด้วงกว่างห้าเขาจากจังหวัดจันทบุรีมาถึงที่จังหวัดกรุงเทพมหานคร ขนาดของมันประมาณ 74 mm ปีกแข็งของมันเป็นสีทองส่องแสงมันวาว และมันดูสงบเสงี่ยมมากในครั้งแรกที่ผมได้พบ ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ คือ Eupatorus gracilicornis มีชื่อทางการภาษาไทยว่า “ด้วงกว่างซางเหนือ” เราสามารถพบบรรดาด้วงกว่างห้าเขาได้ในประเทศอื่น ๆ อย่าง เมียนมาร์ (พม่า) ลาว เวียดนาม และจีน ด้วงกว่างห้าเขายังเป็นที่นิยมในหมู่คนคลั่งไคล้ด้วง
Eupatorus gracilicornis is usually found in rainy season of September. Beetle breeders are going to breed immediately in this month because its lifetime is 2-3 months approximately, and after its flying season it’s very popular beetle taxidermy too. My family love this five-horned beetle so much. It looks amazing in general. In my graduation ceremony rehearsal, I bring my beetle army (Including Eupatorus gracilicornis) to take the pictures with me for a while.
Eupatorus gracilicornis (ด้วงกว่างซางเหนือ) ถูกพบได้บ่อยในช่วงฤดูฝนของเดือนกันยายน นักเพาะพันธุ์ด้วงจะทำการเพาะทันทีในช่วงเดือนนี้ เพราะเนื่องจากอายุไขของมันสั้นโดยประมาณ 2-3 เดือน และหลังจากฤดูกาลของมัน มันเป็นที่นิยมเป็นแมลงสตาฟด้วยเช่นกัน ครอบครัวของผมชอบเจ้าด้วงกว่างห้าเขาตัวนี้มาก มันดูแปลกตามากสำหรับคนทั่วไป ในวันซ้อมรับปริญญา ผมก็นำกองทัพด้วงของผม (รวมไปถึง ด้วงกว่างซางเหนือ) ไปถ่ายรูปกับผมช่วงครู่หนึ่ง
But an unexpected event happened when I went back home from working. There are ant colony in my pet box. My five-horned beetle was flying and hitting in its pet box. I tried to catch it out and I got rid of ant colony. I put my beetle on a bench. It started flying around the living room and went straight to the light. And it hit the light. I turned off the light, and it fell down on the ground. I caught it to a plastic jar immediately. And I cleaned a pet box up. In a couple days later, my beetle was getting weak, and then it died.
แต่เหตุการณ์ไม่คาดคิดก็เกิดขึ้น เมื่อผมกลับมาถึงบ้านจากทำงาน มีฝูงมดเดินอยู่ในกล่องเลี้ยง ด้วงกว่างห้าเขาของผมกำลังบินชนกล่องเลี้ยงไปมาอยู่ข้างใน ผมพยายามจับมันออกมาและก็ไล่มดออกจากกล่อง ผมวางด้วงของผมไว้บนเก้าอี้ไม้ มันก็เริ่มบินรอบห้องนั่งเล่น และบินตรงไปยังหลอดไฟ และมันก็ชนหลอดไฟ ผมปิดไฟ และมันก็ตกลงมาบนพื้น ผมจับมันใส่โหลพลาสติกทันที และทำความสะอาดกล่องเลี้ยง ในสองสามวันต่อมา ด้วงของผมก็เริ่มอ่อนแอและตายลงในที่สุด
Next days, I brought my dead beetle to a beetle shop at JJ Mall to keep it in a frame.
